Make these Easy Homemade Protein Bars
These easy homemade high protein bars contain essential amino acids and make a great snack and meal replacement.
You can use your favourite protein powder. I am using LeanFit Vanilla Whey powder.
Vegans may want to substitute a Pea based, 100% vegetarian powder. This is a grain-free recipe and suitable for Paleo and gluten-free diets.p
The recipe below calls for peanut butter, but feel free to expereiment with various other nut butters or nut free products, if there are allergies in your home.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup peanut butter, almond butter or sunflower butter
1/2 almond milk
optional:
add 1 tsp xylitol or stevia
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Measure your protein powder, almond milk and peanut butter and place in a food processor.
Press pulse for 1 minute (on slow/medium speed) until the mixture blends and forms a soft ball.
Remove protein blend from food processor and place on a sheet of waxed paper or a cutting board.
Roll the protein mixture into a square and cut into eight even bars.
I find it easiest to shape the bars after dividing.
Cool protein bars and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator
Optional: If you wish to add vanilla and or sweetener, mix these with your almond milk first and then add to the food processor.
Then add protein powder and peanut butter, blend as above.
Bars will last about 4 days.

about Angie’s Easy Low Carb Protein Bars
My children’s school has a snack and lunch break, and often I would
I often tucked a piece of fruit and store bought granola bars, along with their lunches.
It seemed like a good choice, when I did not have the time to bake muffins or homemade snacks.
We usually try to avoid anything with unhealthy sweeteners like glucose-fructose, and even bars that contain more natural sweeteners have still way too much sugar per serving.
Worse, many commercial granola and energy bars come with added marshmallows, candies, etc. and are hardly nutritious. You might as well consider buying cookies or chocolate bars.
There are exceptions to be found, but they are expensive.
High-quality bars will cost as much as $24 for a package of 6, while
I often see boxes of granola bars (Kellogg’s, Quaker, etc.) on sale for only $2. – 2.50
There had to be a more cost effective way for my family to enjoy high-quality protein bars without spending so much money.
After much searching, I found an easy to make DIY protein bar recipe, which I modified to our taste and liking.
Now, I no longer buy granola or snack bars, I give my children these homemade high protein bars
I hope you’ll enjoy the bars as much as we do, and I would love to hear your feedback!
My favourite protein!
