Carnation Canada: Rich & Creamy Recipes

Creamy soups are one of my favourite appetizers.
I love the rich and full taste of a fresh homemade cream of leek, broccoli or potato soup.

My grandmother used to serve the most delicious pumpkin cream soup.
It’s base was made with butter, roasted onions and heavy cream and it was the perfect appetizer to our Thanksgiving dinners.
I have been trying to re-create some of her recipes using ingredients that are less “calorific” (as my daughters like to call them)
This is one of the reasons; I love to include Carnation evaporated cream into my soups.
Carnation evaporated cream takes an ordinary recipe and adds the velvety, creamy taste, that you’ll expect in richer soups.

About

Carnation Canada

Carnation Canada is an evaporated milk company that is part of the Smucker Foods of Canada Corporation, which Carnation joined in 2007. The Carnation brand is over a century old and comes in a red-and-white can. Evaporated milk is used in smoothies, as a base for soups, sauces, and casseroles, and can be used as whitener in coffee or tea. Evaporated milk can be used to substitute cream in many recipes.

Products

Carnation offers five products: evaporated milk, fat-free evaporated skim milk, evaporated two-percent partly skimmed milk, instant skim milk powder, and thick cream. On each product page, nutrition facts are found on the right-hand side, with a description and ingredients. A picture of the product is located on the left of the nutritional facts.

Recipes

The Recipes page can be navigated by the type of dish you want to make: beverage, breakfast/brunch, appetizer/snacks, dinner/main dishes, soups, or desserts. Each recipe section includes a description, title of the recipe, time it takes, and a rating of the recipe. Each recipe page includes preparation time, ingredients, tips, garnishes, and user-generated comments. You can even add a recipe to your “Favourites” page, share the recipe, or print it out for future use. For example, the Apple Cinnamon Crisp Smoothie is rated four out of five stars, takes 12 minutes to prepare, makes four cups, and uses the 2% or Fat-Free Evaporated Milk from Carnation. If you do not like seeing recipes in list form, Carnationmilk.ca makes videos of some recipes.

Videos

On the Videos page, found here, you have access to the recipe, related recipes, comments, and can share the recipe or add it to your favourites. In the Simple White Sauce video, Trish Magwood takes you through the recipe. She gives step-by-step information while performing each action.
